Lady Rebels complete three game sweep
Riverside swept past three opponents last week in senior girls basketball action. The Lady Rebels rolled over Tuckerman 38-23 Monday night at Lake City. Riverside traveled to Marked Tree Tuesday night and hammered the Lady Indians 66-37 before completing the three-game sweep with a 64-24 victory Thursday night over East Poinsett County at Lepanto.
In Monday night’s win over Tuckerman, Riverside held a slim 12-11 edge after the opening quarter. Riverside pushed ahead 23-16 at the half and led 29-20 after three periods of play.
Grace Puckett paced the lady Rebels with 16 points. Lotti Hoffman scored nine, Hailey Carr and Carolina Hoffman pitched in four points apiece while Anna Meurer tallied three. Briley Douglas added two points to round out the Riverside scoring. The Lady Rebels made 4-6 free throw attempts and canned five three pointers.
Natalie Shelton paced the Lady Bulldogs with eight points. Tuckerman sank 6-12 free throws and were held without a three pointer.
In Tuesday night’s win at Marked Tree, Carolina Hoffman paced four Lady Rebels in double figures with a team high 16 points. Meurer had 13, Lotti Hoffman and Puckett pitched in 10 points apiece while Douglas scored nine. Carr netted four, Alexis Courtney chipped in three while Alexis Boatman added one point. The Lady Rebels canned 6-9 foul shots and drilled four three pointers.
Makayla Marshall topped Marked Tree with 11 points while Shira Hendrix drilled three treys and finished with nine points. The Lady Indians went a woeful 3-21 from the foul stripe but canned six treys.
Riverside led 14-10 after the first break, 28-13 at the half and 47-26 entering the final frame.
In junior high action, Riverside beat Marked Tree 32-13. Kalli Shasteen topped the Lady Rebels with eight points. Kaley Stevens and Ali Towles scored six points apiece, Hannah Gosa netted four while Lexi Moyer, Gracie Washington, Amber Courtney and Halle Fields all chipped in two points apiece.
In Riverside’s win at EPC, Lotti Hoffman knocked down five three pointers and finished with a game high 22 points to top the Lady Rebels. Carolina Hoffman pumped in 18 points, Douglas scored 11 while Puckett had eight. Carr tallied three points while Courtney contributed two points. Riverside made 15-22 foul shots and drained seven triples.
Kaylee Hood topped the Lady Warriors with 12 points. EPC sank 5-13 charity tosses and knocked down three treys.
Riverside bolted to a 14-1 lead after the first period and held a commanding 36-11 advantage at intermission. The Lady Rebels stretched their lead to 56-23 entering the final frame.
In junior high action, Riverside slipped past EPC 41-35. Washington led Riverside with 10 points. Towles had nine, Shasteen scored six, Gosa and Courtney pitched in four points apiece while Stevens and Moyer tallied three points each. Mackenzie Thomas added two points.
Denise Gaines poured in a game high 22 points to pace the Lady Warriors.
Riverside returns to action Monday night when they travel to Jonesboro to take on the Nettleton Lady Raiders.
