Former Manila Lion contributes to Nighthawk win

HOT SPRINGS – The National Park College Nighthawk men’s basketball team opened their 2018-2019 season with a 126-61 win over UA Cossatot at “The Kettle” Monday, Nov. 5.

The Nighthawks (1-0) began the game on a 16-2 run, fueled by an 11-point surge from freshman Patrick Greene (Little Rock Mills) in the game’s first three minutes. National Park College led, 66-30, at halftime.

Fourteen different Nighthawks scored in the win. Greene finished with 20 points, including 15 first-half points. Sophomore Logan Willett (Faith Prep Academy) added 11 points and sophomore Lowell Washington (Bryant) and freshmen Bradey Woodall (Manila) and Desmond McDonald (Hope) amassed 10 points each in the victory.

Chase Ewing led the Colts (0-1) with 28 points in the loss.

At halftime, National Park College revealed the new name of its Nighthawk mascot. “Nox” was the winning submission voted upon by Nighthawk students, faculty and staff.
