Lady Rebels roll past Armorel in season opener
Riverside Lady Rebels tipped off the new basketball season by thrashing Armorel 77-20 Friday night at Armorel.
Freshman Beaner Hoffman poured in a game high 24 points in her high school debut to lead all scorers. Teammate Grace Puckett pumped in 23 more for the Lady Rebels, while Briley Douglas and Lotti Hoffman added 11 and 10 points respectively.
Riverside raced to a 26-2 lead after the first quarter and held a commanding 42-12 advantage at the half. The Lady Rebels outscored the Tigers 21-2 in the third period as the Riverside lead expanded to 63-14 entering the final frame.
Riverside also took the junior game, winning a thrilling 39-32 decision in overtime. Hannah Gosa paced the Lady Rebels with 10 points.
Riverside returns to the hardcourt October 29th when they travel to Hillcrest.
