Lake City Council adds volunteers to fire department
Lake City Mayor Jon Milligan asked the city council to approve the addition of two new members, Terry Eldridge and Coby Blagg, to the Lake City Volunteer Fire Department. The council voted unanimously to approve both Eldridge and Blagg.
The September meeting was held Oct. 1 with council members Tommy Eakins, Harold Barker, Brenda Hutcheson, Mike George and Danny Dunigan present. Toby Rand was absent.
Mayor Milligan presented bids for tearing the roof off the old school building which now belongs to the city. The low bid was from Kenneth Winford at $15,500.
The council unanimously accepted the bid from Winford to remove the roof down to the block walls.
Mayor Milligan said plans for the sewer plant are moving along well. He went on to say both city audits have been completed with no problems found.
Street paving should begin shortly on completion of Fourth Street to Tupelo Street.
