Caraway Dollar General Plus opens with ribbon cutting
The new Dollar General Plus opened with a ribbon cutting on Saturday, Sept. 29.
John Jasper, Dollar General district manager for Northeast Arkansas, along with the Caraway manger Linda Smith, were on hand to welcome the large crowd to the new 10,000 square foot building that will serve the community well.
The new store over doubled the size of the former Caraway Dollar General.
Smith has been with Dollar General for 18 years. She said she is excited to be in the new store.
“We have 34 freezer doors filled with food for our customers,” she said.
Serving as assistant manager at the Caraway store is Tammy Stokes.
Hours will be 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. seven days a week.
Give-a-ways were given away and drawings were held.
“I appreciate my vendors and others who provided prizes,” Smith said.
Employees joining Smith and Jasper for the Grand Opening included Brian Brooks, Mike Hembrey, Jessica Reed, Kay Lani Jeffers and Christina Turner.
Also on hand for the special event were Caraway Mayor Barry Riley, City Council member Mitchell Tipton and City Council member and mayor candidate Bo James, Caraway Police Chief Shannon Kelems and Craighead County Deputy Kris Kelems, and members of the fire department Krey Jeffers and Curtis Taylor.
Mayor Riley said he is happy to welcome the larger store offering a large variety of grocery items.
“They have been a part of Caraway for many years and we are happy to see them expand,” Mayor Riley said.
