Rex Farmer, 11, a sixth grade student at Manila Middle School, recently completed his summer golf season. Farmer competed as part of the Professional Golf Association Junior League Program South Central Section.

As part of the program, Farmer competed with other young men, ages nine -11, at country clubs across Northeast Arkansas. Farmer and his fellow competitors competed in tournaments at Ridgepoint C.C., Jonesboro C.C., Paragould C.C., Sage Meadows C.C. and Blytheville C.C.

Farmer finished first in several tournaments and was named the player of the year in his age division. Farmer’s scores earned him a spot in the state tournament, again competing against other young men from across the state at The Greens at North Hills Country Club in Sherwood, AR. Farmer played well in the state tournament finishing in fourth place.

Farmer, calls Big Lake Country Club in Manila his home course. “I am thankful for the board of directors, the workers, and all those who volunteer to make the club so great,” said Farmer.

He is the son of Brent and Angel Farmer, of Manila, and the grandson of Bob and Sue Farmer, of Manila, and Reba Smith, of Dyess, AR.
