Riverside School Board members commended student Teressa Boatman at the Aug. 6 meeting. High School Principal Matt Ziegler introduced Boatman, an upcoming senior, who made a presentation called Rebels Against Negativity.

Boatman discussed the negative impacts social media has on students, staff and the school district.

The project she is heading up will bring awareness to the social media issue and challenge people to pledge to be positive on social media, especially concerning the school.

Superintendent Jeff Priest and board members commended her on her efforts toward the project and agreed they look forward to seeing it in action.

The board unanimously approved the legal transfer of Alexis Lammers to Brookland.

Members present were Ricky Austin, Mike Brickell, Greg Douglas, Len B. Nall and Greg Smith.

The next regular board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10.
