Gary Wayne Perkins, 64, of Manila, passed from this life Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Born in Manila he was the son of the late Jessie Perkins and Alien Henson Perkins Jaco and was a 1972 graduate of Manila High School. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars. After 20 years of military service he received a nursing degree from the former Mississippi County Community College in Blytheville and had worked at the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett and the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Mo. Gary was a member of the Manila Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley Jones Perkins of the home; his son, Shaun Perkins and wife Sarah;

his daughter, Shannon Page and husband Russell, all of Manila; three brothers, David Perkins of Bastrop, Texas, Larry Perkins and Keith Perkins, both of Manila. He also leaves two grandchildren, Taylor Perkins and Tripp Page.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with the Rev. Jerry Pentecost officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers will be TJ Chaudoin, Donald Chaudoin, Mickey Chaudoin, Josh Jones, Jordon Jones and Larry Perkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Jones, Devon Jones, Justin Jones and Cameron Jones.

The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
