Mustangs gain victories against Marmaduke, Bay and Armorel

Buffalo Island Central swept doubleheaders on Monday and Tuesday before winning their fifth game of the week by hammering Armorel 18-3 Thursday afternoon.

The Mustangs wiped out Marmaduke on the road, pounding the Greyhounds 20-0 in the first game before drilling Marmaduke 22-2 in the nightcap.

In the opener, a three-inning affair, Kaleb Dublin earned the victory, allowing just one hit while striking out three. Dublin helped himself by slapping three singles, driving in a pair of runs and scoring twice. Canon Walling cracked a single and a double, scored four runs and drove in two runs. Chayse Carmichael blasted a pair of doubles, had two RBI and scored twice while Andrew McFarlin singled, doubled, had two RBI and scored twice. Bryce Towery belted a three run double and scored a pair of runs. James Stone and Franklin Patterson both rapped RBI doubles while Kyle Thrasher and Caleb Suiter delivered two-run singles.

In the nightcap, another three-inning game, BIC jumped on Marmaduke, scoring 14 runs in the first inning. Moisses Aralleno gained the victory, allowing two earned runs on just one hit.

McFarlin led the offense with a pair of singles, a double, three RBI and three runs scored. Towery walloped two doubles, had three RBI and scored three runs while Walling singled, doubled, scored three runs and drove in another. Dublin hammered a three-run double and scored twice, Carmichael belted a two-run double and scored two times while Logan Harrison cracked an RBI double and scored a run. Chanse Rose and Connor McCord both produced two-run singles. Aralleno scored two runs while Patterson crossed the plate one time.

In BICís doubleheader sweep of Bay, the Mustangs won the opener 12-0 in five innings before scoring four runs in the seventh inning to squeak out an 8-7 win in the nightcap.

McFarlin fired a shutout to pick up the win in the first game. The senior also singled, doubled and scored two runs. Walling blasted two triples, drove in two and scored twice. Dublin doubled two times, scored twice and had an RBI while Stone had a pair of RBI singles and scored once. Harrison delivered an RBI hit and scored a run while Towery and Carmichael both singled and scored runs.

In the second game, BIC trailed 7-4 entering the bottom of the seventh inning but put together a four-run rally to take the win. Dublin had two singles, an RBI and scored twice. Harrison singled twice and scored two runs. Stone clobbered an RBI double while Thrasher belted an RBI single. Carmichael doubled and scored once while Towery singled and scored a run.

Towery and Carmichael both had big days in BICís 15-run win over Armorel. Towery cracked a pair of doubles, had two singles, scored three times and drove in four runs while Carmichael hit a three-run bomb, singled and scored four runs. Walling singled, doubled, had an RBI and scored three times. Rose and Patterson both singled, doubled, scored once and had two RBI each. McFarlin cracked an RBI single and scored a run, Harrison singled and scored three runs while Dublin had a pair of singles, an RBI and crossed the plate once. Aralleno had an RBI single and scored a run.

Towery was the winning pitcher for the Mustangs.

BIC returns to action Thursday in the first round of the District Tournament at Salem. The Mustangs will face Cotter in the opening round.

In girls action, Bay doubled up the Lady Mustangs 20-10 Monday at Monette. BIC held an 8-3 lead entering the fourth inning, but the Lady Yellowjackets batted around twice, scoring 16 runs to take a 19-8 lead.

BIC dropped an 11-0 decision Tuesday at Armorel before closing the week with a 16-6 loss Thursday at Marmaduke.

The Lady Mustangs return to action Monday when they play host to Riverside. BIC closes the regular season Tuesday at Manila.
