BIC to present "The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood"
The Buffalo Island Central Drama Department will present “The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood” at 6 p.m. Friday, April 20, and a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. April 21.
The two-act play is a comedic spoof of the traditional Robin Hood tale and will be performed at the newly renovated Melody Theatre in Leachville. The theater can accommodate 245, with seating on the floor level and in the balcony. The theater is wheelchair accessible.
BIC Junior High teacher Nancy Spencer is the Drama Department sponsor and has worked with the students to design and construct the stage setting for the play, along with securing individual costuming for the characters. The cast has added their own physical and visual humor to the already funny script written by Mary Lynn Dobson.
“The cast and crew are totally committed to doing their best to produce a quality rendition of this play,” Spencer said. “They have worked countless hours on backdrops and costuming.”
The BIC Drama Department will hold a silent auction before the show and at intermission with proceeds donated back to the Melody Theater.
Tickets went on sale last week and can be purchased for $5 from any cast or crew member, on the Buffalo Island Central Drama Department Facebook page, by contacting Nancy Spencer at the Junior High School, or by email at email@example.com.
Cast members will be promoting the play on radio station MIX 106 at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18.
