BIC crushes Cross County 16-3
Buffalo Island Central banged out a 15-hit attack and went on to crush Cross County 16-3 in high school baseball action Thursday at Cherry Valley.
Logan Harrison led the hit parade for the Mustangs, blasting two doubles and a single to go along with a pair of RBI and two runs scored. Andrew McFarlin slapped a single, drilled a double and drove in three runs while scoring once. Bryce Towery slammed a pair of doubles, drove in a run and scored twice. Franklin Patterson cracked a single, walloped a double, had two RBI and two runs scored. Canon Walling singled twice and scored three runs. Kaleb Dublin had a pair of singles with an RBI and two runs scored. Kyle Thrasher laced a single and crossed the plate twice while Chayse Carmichael had a base hit and scored a run. Jameson Stone drove in a run and scored once.
Carmichael pitched a complete game to earn the victory. The senior righthander worked five innings, allowing three earned runs, five hits while fanning five and walking two.
BIC began the week with a 3-0 loss Monday at East Poinsett County. The Warriors scored a run in the first and tacked on two more in the second. Peyton Phillips hammered an RBI single while Hayden Malone delivered two hits and an RBI to pace the Warriors.
Malone went the distance, throwing a four-hit shutout to gain the victory. Malone whiffed four and walked two.
McFarlin absorbed the loss, going six innings. McFarlin gave up three earned runs on five hits. The senior struck out seven and walked two.
Towery belted a double while Walling, Harrison, and Patterson all singled for BIC.
The Mustangs return to the diamond Monday when they face Marmaduke in a doubleheader on the road. BIC returns home Tuesday and Thursday where they will meet Bay and Armorel respectively. BIC closes the regular season with a road trip Friday to Manila.
In girls action, Cross County came away with a wild 20-18 victory over the Lady Mustangs. BIC will host Bay Monday before traveling to Armorel Tuesday. The Lady Mustangs will finish the week with a road trip Thursday to Marmaduke.
