Mustangs crank out three more wins on diamond
Buffalo Island Central took three of four games last week on the diamond. The Mustangs kicked things off by thrashing McCrory 14-3 on the road. BIC dropped a 10-6 decision at Armorel Wednesday. The Mustangs shut out Marked Tree 10-0 Thursday on the road before closing the week by hammering Cross County 16-6 Friday at Monette.
Bryce Towery was the winning pitcher in BIC’s win at McCrory. Towery went the distance, allowing three earned runs on eight hits while striking out five and walking two. Towery also had a big day at the plate with a single, a double, two RBI, and two runs scored.
Chayse Carmichael went 2-3 with a double and scored three runs. Logan Harrison, Kyle Thrasher and Kaleb Dublin all added two RBI apiece.
Armorel handed the Mustangs their first loss of the season Wednesday. Andrew McFarlin suffered the loss, pitching two innings, allowing six earned runs. Dublin and Moisses Aralleno pitched two innings apiece in relief, allowing one run each.
Gavin Gathright fired a four-hit shutout and struck out eight Marked Tree batters in Thursday’s 10-0 victory over the Indians. Dublin and Canon Walling both had three hits apiece to pace the Mustang offense while Dublin also scored three runs.
BIC improved to 5-1 on the season with its 10-run victory over Cross County Friday. Aralleno gained the win, pitching four innings.
Carmichael singled twice, tripled, drove in three runs, and scored three times to lead the Mustangs. Harrison and Thrasher both drove in three runs apiece. Walling got the scoring started for BIC, crashing a homerun in the first inning while scoring two runs.
BIC will return to the diamond Tuesday with a road game at East Poinsett County. The Mustangs host rival Riverside Wednesday before finishing off the week with a trip to Cross County Thursday.
