Candidate Marvin Day addresses Lake City Council

Tuesday, March 27, 2018

Lake City Mayor Jon Milligan introduced Marvin Day, candidate for Craighead County Judge, at the Monday, March 19, council meeting. Mr. Day gave a brief bio of himself and then told the council of his expectations for the future of Craighead County and its cities if he were to be elected.

City Clerk Linda Simpson read the first reading of Ordinance No. 299-18, an ordinance to waive competitive bidding on a 2017 Freightliner garbage truck. The council approved the reading by title on the second and third time and adopted the emergency clause.

Council members present included Tommy Eakins, Harold Barker, Brenda Hutcheson and Danny Dunigan. Toby Rand was absent.

Mayor Milligan informed the Council the survey on the Bowers property, which had been done by two different surveyors, had a discrepancy. A quit claim deed from the City of Lake City to Copper Construction will correct the problem. The council voted unanimously to grant a quit claim deed for land 15 feet east and 115 north on the Bowers property.

Mayor Milligan asked the Council to renew the vehicle lease agreement for the mayor and the city clerk/treasurer for 2018. Each agree to lease their personal vehicle for the sum of $1. The council voted unanimously in favor of the lease agreement.

The next regularly scheduled Lake City Council meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, at city hall.
