Manila Board renews principal's contracts
In a board meeting held Monday, Feb. 19, the Manila School board renewed principals' contracts for the 2018-2019 school year.
In addition, with a 7-0 vote, interim head football coach, Lorin Morgan, was hired as head football coach.
Jonna Dodd was also hired as assistant softball coach with the board voting 7-0.
The Board adopted a calendar for the 2018-2019 school year. The first day of next school year has been scheduled for Monday, Aug. 13.
In other business the board adopted resolutions granting permission for the District to conduct business with Wagner’s Pharmacy, Delta Drug, and Towell and Son’s Auto. The Arkansas Department of Education requires this action for all businesses that are owned by board members or employees.
The board decided in discussion to take sealed bids for the recently donated house across the street from the elementary. “The house will have to be moved,” Superintendent Pam Castor, said. “The plans for the lot are to add additional parking to help relieve the overcrowding problem, especially during school events.
“We certainly appreciate the kind donation of Dr. Oldham. It will enable the elementary school to have needed parking and help prevent parking up and down side streets during elementary activities."
