Rev. Jerry Lee Johnson, 72, of Manila, former Leachville resident, passed from this life Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at the Arkansas Continued Care Hospital in Jonesboro. Born in Manila he was the son of the late Robert "Bolton" and Nina Bell Roach Johnson and was raised in the Lost Cane Community near Manila. He had worked as a meat cutter for the former Farmers Market grocery store in Leachville and was an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Churches International since the early 1970s. He had served as pastor of the People of Praise United Pentecostal Church in Leachville since December of 1980. Pastor Johnson also served as coordinator for the Arkansas District Foreign Missions Department and served on the District Sunday School Department. He also worked as the director of security for the Arkansas District Camp Grounds in Redfield for over 30 years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Ruby "Willine" Northcutt Johnson of the home; one son, Rev. Don Johnson and wife Lindy of Manila; one daughter, Delana Johnson Price and husband Darrell of West Point, Miss.; four brothers, Eulis Johnson of Manila, Larry Johnson of Jonesboro, Ricky Johnson and Timothy Johnson, both of Manila; one sister, Linda Curtwright of Manila; five grandchildren, Ashley Johnson Barber, Spencer Cain, Korey Cain, Parker Cain and Houston Cain, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the People of Praise United Pentecostal Church in Leachville with Reverend Oscar Hobbs and Reverend Bradley Curtwright officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Spencer Cain, Korey Cain, Parker Cain, Houston Cain, Mitchell Barber and Brian Curtwright. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from 6-9 at the church.
