Corning uses three ball to bomb Lady Lions 82-46

Corning came out on fire in Tuesday night’s district tournament matchup with Manila and went on to crush the Lady Lions 82-46.

The Lady Bobcats smoked Manila, draining a remarkable 18 three pointers on the night. Corning, who never trailed in the game, knocked down five triples in the first quarter, three by Katie Clifton, to take a 23-12 lead into the second stanza. Sydney Adcock kept Manila within striking distance, scoring eight first period points.

Corning remained red hot in the second quarter, knocking down six more triples, four by Amber Hollis, to take a commanding 50-24 advantage into the dressing room at intermission. Brailey Hampton scored eight second quarter points for Manila.

The Lady Bobcats rained down seven more long range bombs in the third stanza and took a 78-35 lead into the final frame.

Corning placed three players in double digits, led by senior forward Kaytie Manatt who scored a game high 24 points. Clifton poured in 20, including six treys, while Hollis dropped in 12 points, all from beyond the three-point arc.

Adcock pumped in 14 points to pace the Lady Lions, who saw their season come to a close, while Hampton tallied 10. Jill Helton scored five, Madison Bibbs and Mikayla Massey chipped in four points apiece while Presley Pierce and Andi Baker netted three each. Courtney Merritt contributed two while Meg Gifford added one point.
