Rebels close regular season on down note
Riverside closed its regular season on a down note, dropping a pair of games to Trumann and Brookland.
The Rebels traveled to Trumann Tuesday night and fell to the Wildcats 68-42. Trumann placed three players in double digits, led by Ben Turnerís game high 14 points. Cody Roland scored 12 while Alex Moses chipped in 10 more for the Wildcats, who knocked down nine three pointers on the night.
Riverside was paced by Steven Stroud, who scored nine points. Landon Moyer and Dillon Turner had eight points apiece, Ethan Cash tallied six, Demo Bowers and Justin Berry pitched in four points each while Gage Crews added three.
Trumann held a 16-12 advantage after the first quarter before outscoring the Rebels 25-5 in the second stanza to take a 41-17 halftime lead. The Wildcats led 58-27 after three periods of play.
Riverside took the Senior B game 34-31. Stroud pumped in 21 points to pace the Rebels. Jacob Wright netted seven, Berry contributed four while Crews added two points.
Riverside visited Brookland Friday night and dropped a 60-24 decision to the Bearcats. Braden Smith pumped in 17 points to top Brookland while Dalon Ford added 11.
Keech Wilmoth led the Rebels with 10 points.
Riverside opens play in the 3A-3 District Tournament Monday night at Piggott. The Rebels will take on Corning. Tipoff is set for 8:30.
