Delphia Irene Waddell
Delphia Irene Waddell, 94, of Manila, widow of Mr. Carroll Waddell, passed from this life Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Manila, she was the daughter of the late Charley and Mary Parker Crouse and had been raised in Manila. A 1943 graduate of Manila High School, she had worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis, Mo., during World War II. Mrs. Waddell enjoyed cooking, gardening and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a longtime member of the Blackwater Baptist Church near Manila.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Larry Waddell; her favorite son-in-law, Danny Cochran; five brothers, Earl Crouse, Ernest Crouse, Wesley Crouse, Bernard Crouse and Chester Crouse; and three sisters, Rachel Hensley, Ortha Scott and Marie Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Garry Waddell and Ricky Waddell, both of Manila; daughter, Genna Cochran of Jonesboro; daughter-in-law, Mary Garrard Waddell of Jonesboro; two sisters, Bernice Ellis of Arnold, Mo., and Delora Brown of Gosnell. She also leaves seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with the Rev. Chris Jones officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Cochran, Chad Waddell, Alexander Shoaff, Stabler Waddell, Jimmy Brown and Raymond Crouse. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday from noon until service time.
