Lady Rebels steamroll Rivercrest and Harrisburg

Top ranked Riverside continued to roll with a 75-27 battering of the Rivercrest Lady Colts Thursday night at Lake City. The Lady Rebels, 29-1, placed 12 players in the scoring column, led by senior Haven Robertson, who pumped in a game high 18 points.

Riverside bolted to a 23-9 lead after the first quarter with Robertson leading the way, scoring 10 points. Robertson pumped in the first six points of the second stanza, helping Riverside increase its lead to 31-9. The Lady Rebels closed the half on a Robertson lay-in, giving Riverside a commanding 42-18 halftime advantage. The Lady Rebels increased their lead to 58-24 after three periods of play.

Hailey Carr also hit double digits for Riverside, pumping in 15 points. Senior Whitney Wagganor scored eight, Lotti Hoffman and Carmen Campbell had seven points apiece, Carson Smith tallied six while Grace Ann Puckett netted four. Brittney Sain contributed three, Lexi Hall, Briley Douglas, and Ashlyn Wright all added two points each while Mallory Felton chipped in one point. The Lady Rebels were sharp from the foul stripe, connecting on 16-19 attempts while draining three treys.

In the junior high game, Riverside improved to 14-0 in league play with a 65-44 win over the Lady Colts. The Lady Rebels placed four players in double digits, led by Beaner Hoffman and Cailey Qualls, who scored 17 points apiece. Alexis Courtney tallied 12 while Anna Meurer pitched in 11. Alexis Boatman and Payton Douglas added four points apiece.

Riverside began the week by knocking off Harrisburg, 71-30, Monday night at Lake City. The Lady Rebels jumped all over the visiting Hornets, 24-2 in the first quarter, before taking a whopping 44-9 lead into the dressing room at the half. Riverside led 59-22 after three quarters.

Robertson led the Lady Rebels with 16 points while Sain scored 12. Hoffman had nine, Hall tallied eight, Wagganor and Carr netted six points apiece while Smith contributed four. Wright and Campbell chipped in three points each while Puckett and Natalie Milligan added two points apiece.

Cassie Armstrong paced Harrisburg with 13 points.

In the junior high contest, Riverside rolled over Harrisburg 52-19. Meurer led all scorers with 18 points while Hoffman scored 13. Qualls had nine, Boatman and Douglas pitched in five points each while Hannah Gosa added two points.

The Lady Rebels will attempt to complete an undefeated conference season this week. Riverside will close out its home schedule Monday night against Trumann before finishing the regular season Thursday night at Brookland.
