Mustangs celebrate Senior Night with win over Armorel
Buffalo Island Central celebrated Senior Night with a come back 57-47 victory over Armorel Saturday at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.
BIC, who evened their season record at 12-12, trailed the Tigers through the first three quarters. Armorel held leads of 12-10 after the first quarter, 27-22 at the half and 43-38 entering the final frame. The Mustangs caught fire in the fourth period, outscoring the Tigers 19-4 to secure the victory.
Canon Walling banged home four triples and finished with a game high 24 points to lead BIC. Andrew McFarlin contributed a double-double, scoring 11 points while grabbing 10 boards. Devin Pemberton also hit double digits, chipping in 10 points. Mat Wyatt paced Armorel with 17 points.
In the junior high contest, BIC outscored Armorel 43-33. Matthew McMinn and Grady Peel topped the Mustangs with 11 and 10 points respectively.
BIC began the week with a 52-21 loss Tuesday at Marked Tree. The Mustangs held a 4-0 lead after the first break, but the Indians charged from behind to take a 20-7 lead at the half. Marked Tree carried a 36-14 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Marquel Perry produced a double-double for the Indians, scoring 14 points while snaring 11 boards.
In junior high play, Marked Tree downed BIC 50-41. B.J. Marshall led the Indians with 16 points while Aiden Johnson added 14.
McMinn scored a game high 19 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to pace the Mustangs.
