Joe Douglas Wells, 82, of Blytheville, former Manila and Osceola resident, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at the Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born in Etowah, he was the son of the late Russell William and Mary Eunice Edwards Wells and was raised in Osceola. A 1953 graduate of Osceola High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later joined the U.S. Army. He had been employed for the Federal Compress in Osceola. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Lola Russell Wells, in December 2017, and an infant sister.

Survivors include one son, Joe D. Wells, Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; four brothers, Russell Edward Wells of Norfork, Benjamin Harold Wells and James Donald Wells, both of Osceola, and Jerry Leonard Wells of Beebe. He also leaves three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements are under the direction of Howard Funeral and Cremation Service of Manila.
