Terry Carr of Manila announced plans to run for Position 1 on the Manila School Board. Carr was elected to Position 1 in September of 2016 and served until October of 2017.

“It was an honor to serve our community and be involved with the board for a year,” Carr said. “I resigned to allow the board to make a decision on the hiring of an employee. It was a tough decision to step down but when I ran for the school board I said I would do what is best for the students of Manila. I felt it was the best thing to do.

“We need to continue to improve our school and support our teachers. We are blessed with a good faculty. The decisions made now will effect our students for a long time. Education is critical to improving the lives of our children. We need to be involved in our community in helping our school because we have a vast amount of knowledge in our city. Our school is an asset to our community.”

Carr has been a resident of Manila for over 25 years. He is the owner of TC's Restaurant in Manila. He is a graduate of Ole' Miss and holds a bachelor's degree in business.

He is active in the Manila Lions Club where he has served as president and currently serves as treasurer. He is very involved in the sports at Manila High School. He is an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Manila.

He and his wife, Barbara, have five grown children, Bryan, Brooke, T.J., Lara, and Blake. They also have eight grandchildren.

“I appreciate the support I have received and working together we can help our school get better and continue to move forward,” Carr said.
