Lions fall short at Osceola
Manila traveled to Osceola for a 3A conference showdown Friday night against the Seminoles, but it was the host team who prevailed, coming away with a 66-57 victory over the Lions.
Osceola held a 19-16 edge after the first period but opened up a 40-29 lead at intermission. The Seminoles carried a 53-42 margin into the final frame.
Osceola put three players in double digits, led by Makai Caruthers’ 16 points. Dante Adams scored 15 while Derrell Brown chipped in 13. The Seminoles hit nine of 13 foul attempts and made three treys.
Bradey Woodall topped the Lions with 18 points while Brock Birmingham and Joel Burrow chipped in 14 and 11 points respectively. Conner Belew scored five, Abraham Lopez had three while Daley Belew, Trenton Thomas and Dalton Hitchcock all added two points apiece. The Lions connected on 10-12 charity tosses and drained five three pointers.
In junior high play, Manila improved to 14-4 overall and 9-1 in conference play with a 45-41 win over Osceola. Austin Harmon pumped in 19 points to lead the Lions while Ty Wagner scored 11. Brayden Mattingly netted nine while Jake Baltimore added six points.
Manila returns to action Tuesday night when they host Harrisburg for Homecoming. The Lions close the week with a road trip Friday night to Trumann.
