Earle sweeps BIC
Buffalo Island Central and Earle faced off against each other twice in both boys and girls basketball action last week, with the Bulldogs coming away with a sweep.
In boys play, Earle outlasted BIC 63-51 Monday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex before coming away with a 51-42 victory Friday night at Earle.
In Monday night’s contest, the two teams battled to a 14-14 draw after the first quarter. The Bulldogs edged ahead 27-24 at the half before building their advantage to 41-33 after three periods of play.
Darius Cisero and Travonta Doolittle paced the Bulldogs with 16 points apiece. Chayse Carmichael collected a double-double, scoring 17 points while pulling down 10 boards to top the Mustangs. Devin Pemberton added 11 points.
In Friday night’s game, Earle held a 25-20 halftime advantage before stretching their lead to 37-30 entering the final frame. Quavonn Williams led Earle with 20 points while Andrew McFarlin paced BIC with 14.
In junior high action, Earle slipped past BIC 35-29 Monday night, despite Grady Peel’s 15-point performance for the Mustangs. Earle crushed BIC 50-20 in Friday night’s junior high rematch.
In girls play, Earle defeated BIC 61-34 Monday before following up with a 62-19 win on Friday.
The Lady Bulldogs placed three players in double digits in Monday night’s game, led by RoShalla Scott’s 22 points. T’asja Hughey scored 15 while Elaijha Brown added 12. Heather Sipes paced the Lady Mustangs with 10 points.
In Monday’s junior high game, Earle rolled to a 49-24 victory over BIC. Lexi Riley led the Lady Mustangs with 10 points.
BIC’s boys and girls will return to action Monday night with a four-game slate against East Poinsett County at Monette before ending the week with another four-game night against KIPP Blytheville Friday, also at the Mustang Athletic Complex. The Lady Mustangs will play a Tuesday night road game, traveling to Rector.
