Dortha Banks

Monette -- Dortha Banks, 92, passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at Lakeside Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 20, 1925, in Ash Hill, Mo., to the late Wade and Ida Gulledge Nation. She was a homemaker. Dortha enjoyed fishing, handcrafts and reading and loved her family specially her grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Banks; children, Samuel Banks and John Banks; brother, Henry Nation; a brother-in-law, Billy Churchwell; a sister-in-law, Farna Nation.

She is survived by her children, Robert Banks (Sondra) and Julie Deatherage, all of Lake City; grandsons, Erik Deatherage (Tiffany) of Jonesboro and Michael Banks (Nikki) of Caraway; a sister, Lena Churchwell of Bells, Tenn.; brothers, Harold Nation of Henning, Tenn., and Pete Nation (Cathy) of Norman, Okla.; great-grandsons, Tyson Banks and Brodie Banks of Caraway.

A celebration of her life was 10:30 Monday, Jan. 15, at Caraway First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Stevens officiating. Interment followed at Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

The family received friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Erik Deatherage, Michael Banks, John Starnes, Fred Morgan, Terry Couch and Willie Simpson.
