Bearcats can 12 three pointers to roll past Rebels, 60-37
Brookland knocked down six three pointers in the third quarter, three by Drew Thompson, and went on to beat Riverside 60-37 in senior boys basketball action Tuesday night at Lake City.
The two teams battled on even terms throughout the first half with the Bearcats holding a slim 14-12 edge after the first quarter and a 23-20 lead at intermission. Brookland came out scorching the nets in the third period from beyond the three-point arc, outscoring the Rebels 29-2 to grab a 52-22 advantage heading into the final frame.
Thompson led Brookland with 14 points while Braxton Haff added 13. Brookland canned 12 three pointers on the night.
Landon Moyer paced Riverside with 16 points. Dillon Turner scored eight, Ethan Cash had six while Keech Wilmoth, Justin Berry and Hayden Mathis all pitched in two points each. Demo Bowers added one point.
In the junior high game, Brookland downed the Rebels 43-26. Chriss Watts led the Bearcats with nine points. Traven Weaver led the Rebels with eight points, Grayson Emery tallied six, Ethan Boatman netted five, M.J. WIlkinson and J.M. Shinall both scored three points while Trever Mangrum added one point.
Riverside’s game with Manila Friday night was postponed until a later date due to weather conditions.
The Rebels return to the hardcourt Tuesday night with a home game against Osceola at Lake City. Riverside will travel to Gosnell to close out the week on Friday.
