Lady Lions nip Westside in overtime 59-54
Manila kept Westside winless on the season, pulling out a thrilling 59-54 overtime win over the Lady Warriors Monday night at Lion Gym.
Westside held a slim 10-8 edge after the first period before the Lady Lions fought back to take a 23-19 lead at the half. The Lady Warriors regained the advantage, 37-35, entering the final frame. At the end of regulation, the two teams were knotted at 50-50. Manila outscored Westside 9-4 in the overtime period to pick up the win.
Meg Gifford scored a game high 22 points to pace Manila. Jill Helton and Madison Bibbs both hit double digits, netting 14 and 13 points respectively. Sydney Adcock contributed four points while Presley Pierce and Kaitlyn Adams had three points each.
Bailee Crowe topped Westside with 15 points while Bailey Tosh and Scout Harrison chipped in 11 points apiece.
In the junior high game, Manila slipped past Westside 28-24. Madison Hitchcock led the Lady Lions with nine points, Sadie McDonald scored seven, Olivia May tallied five while Ashten Wallace netted four. Madison Carruth added three points to round out the Lady Lion scoring.
Manila returns to action Tuesday night when they host Brookland. The Lady Lions close the week with a Thursday night home game against Osceola.
