Lady Mustangs sweep past Cross County and Marked Tree
Buffalo Island Central placed three players in double figures, leading the Lady Mustangs to a 59-15 demolition of Cross County Tuesday night at Monette.
BIC held a 14-6 lead after the opening period before moving ahead 31-10 at the half. The Lady Mustangs blew the game open in the third stanza, holding a 50-13 advantage heading into the final frame.
Molly Hart put together a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead BIC. Hart also handed out six assists and had four steals. Haddyn Hurst chipped in 14 points to go along with four assists while Heather Sipes dropped in 12 points.
In the junior high game, Emma Graddy poured in 18 points to lead BIC to a 31-16 victory over the Thunderbirds.
BIC thumped Marked Tree 66-25 Thursday night at Monette. The Lady Mustangs jumped to a 15-8 lead after the first quarter and doubled up the Lady Indians 32-16 at the half. BIC held a commanding 50-19 advantage after three periods of play.
Sipes recorded a double-double for BIC, scoring 24 points while grabbing 12 boards. Sipes also dished out four assists and came away with four steals. Hart scored 15 while Morgan James added 11.
Jayla Carter topped Marked Tree with 10 points.
In the junior high contest, Marked Tree downed BIC 33-22.
The Lady Mustangs (9-7) return to action Tuesday night when they play host to Bay. BIC travels to Marmaduke Thursday before closing the week with a home game Friday against Armorel.
