Rebels fall to Armorel in Jenings Tournament
Armorel eliminated Riverside from the Gerald Jennings Invitational Tournament, posting a 64-41 victory over the Rebels Monday night at Lepanto. The two teams battled to an 8-8- draw after the first quarter before the Tigers took control, outscoring Riverside by 10 points in the second period to grab a 25-15 halftime advantage. Armorel put the game away in the third quarter, pulling ahead 48-26 entering the final frame.
Ethan Cash scored a game high 19 points to pace the Rebels. Armorel placed three players in double digits, led by Matt Wyatt’s 18 points. Monroe Carr scored 14 while Brock Elliott chipped in 10 more for the Tigers.
Riverside hosted Gosnell Tuesday night at Lake City and fell to the Pirates 74-48. Trajan Donnerson pumped in a game high 31 points to top the Pirates. Jaquon Partee and Brandon Partee pitched in 11 and 10 points respectively for Gosnell. Cash led the Rebels with 21 points.
The Pirates held a slim 13-11 edge after the first quarter and stretched their lead to 32-26 at the half. Gosnell led 51-36 after three periods of play.
Junior boys fall in Jennings finals
Gosnell defeated Riverside 29-19 to claim the Gerald Jennings Invitational Championship Saturday at Lepanto. The Junior Rebels advanced to the finals with a 58-50 win over Trumann on Thursday.
Ethan Boatman poured in 27 points to pace Riverside while Grayson Emery added 13. Chris Webb and Azani Smith led the Wildcats with 18 and 10 points respectively.
Riverside will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Westside to take on the Warriors. The Rebels will close the week against Harrisburg Friday night at Lake City.
