Mustang boys, girls post wins
Buffalo Island Central stampeded past Cross County 60-35 Tuesday night at Cherry Valley. The Mustangs romped to a 22-9 lead after the first quarter and took a 38-20 advantage into intermission. BIC led 46-27 after three periods of play.
Andrew McFarlin led BIC with 14 points while Devin Pemberton followed with 12. Jackson Henderson scored a game high 19 to pace the Thunderbirds.
The Mustangs traveled to Armorel Friday night and dropped a 57-50 decision to the host Tigers. Armorel clung to a slim 26-24 edge at the half and took a 39-34 advantage into the fourth quarter.
The Tigers placed three players in double figures, led by Monroe Carr’s game high 18 points. Brock Elliott scored 13 while Deon Sellars added 11 points. McFarlin paced the Mustangs with 12 points while Canon Walling dropped in nine.
BIC returns to action Tuesday night when they meet Bay on the road.
In girls action, BIC rolled over Cross County 38-22 Monday night at Cherry Valley. Heather Sipes led the Lady Mustangs with 13 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Kalianna Hill paced the Lady Thunderbirds with 12 points.
BIC led 8-6 after the first break, 19-14 at the half and 29-18 entering the final frame.
In the junior high game, Cross County prevailed 34-20.
BIC traveled to Armorel Friday night and came away with a 41-25 victory. Molly Hart recorded a double-double, scoring 18 points while snaring 10 boards. Sipes came within one rebound of a double-double, pouring in 17 points while coming down with nine rebounds.
The Lady Mustangs travel to Bay Monday night before hosting Marmaduke Thursday night.
