Lake City Council amends ordinance

Lake City Mayor Jon Milligan introduced Cody Raye at the Nov. 20 meeting.

Raye presented council members with a drawing of his proposed dog kennel. He informed the council he had already obtained his business license.

After a brief disucssion, the council voted to amend ordinance No. 2000-180 Planning and Zoning, Section 5-1 Agriculture A.9, to read: Riding stables, dog kennels, and veterinary hospitals prtoviding buildings housing said animals shall be located at least 100 feet from all property lines.

The council tabled a request to allow Raye to have a dog kennel on agriculture land until they received more information.

Mayor Milligan introduced Representative Dan Sullivan. Representative Sullivan informed the council legislation had been passed to allow an “In God We Trust” framed poster to hang in all public offices, schools, etc. in the state of Arkansas.

Following the review of the financial and water reports, Mayor Milligan presented the 2018 proposed budget which was approved unanimously.

Mayor Milligan opened the paving bid for Ridge Road. Only one bid was submitted.

The council voted unanimously to reject the bid.

Council approved the mayor's request giving Lisa Sitz the title of mayor's assitant. She will remain a part-time employee and assist in the office where needed.

The Christmas Parade will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 2. Line-up at 5:30 p.m.

The next regular city council meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 28.
