Lions blast CRA and Armorel
Undefeated Manila continued its early season scoring outburst, marching past two more foes last week in senior boys basketball action. The Lions hammered Crowley’s Ridge Academy 81-54 Tuesday night at Paragould before drubbing Armorel 84-61 Friday night at Lion Gym.
Joel Burrow and Bradey Woodall combined for 45 points and seven three pointers to lead the Lions over the Falcons. Burrow poured in 24 points while Woodall added 21 more. Brock Birmingham also hit double digits with 12.
The Lions led 24-17 after the opening frame before upping their margin to 49-34 at the half. Manila took a commanding 68-43 bulge into the fourth quarter.
Woodall pumped in a game high 26 points while Burrow hammered home 24 more in Manila’s victory over Armorel. Birmingham also had a big scoring night, adding 18 points. Matt Wyatt and Monroe Carr paced the Tigers with 23 and 22 points respectively.
Manila held a 17-11 lead after the first quarter before taking a 39-26 advantage into the dressing room at intermission. The Lions stretched their lead to 63-44 after three periods of play.
In junior high action, Manila crushed CRA 56-19 and rolled past Armorel 53-15. Ty Wagner scored 14 points in the Lions’ victory over Armorel while Dax Davison netted 12. Austin Harmon had nine, Jake Baltimore tallied six while Tyler Perez and Jaron Burrow chipped in four points apiece. Brayden Mattingly and Adian Patino pitched in two points each.
The Lions will take on Buffalo Island Central Tuesday night at home.
