Lady Rebels continue early season roll

Riverside defeated Buffalo Island Central for the second time in less than a week as the Lady Rebels cruised to an 84-46 victory Monday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.

The Lady Rebels placed 11 players in the scoring column, led by Lotti Hoffman’s game high 16 points. Whitney Wagganor scored 15 while Haven Robertson chipped in 11. It was the third consecutive game Riverside has topped the 80 plus point mark. Brittney Sain tallied eight, Grace Ann Puckett contributed seven while Bailey Fisher, Mallory Felton, Briley Douglas and Hailey Carr all chipped in six points apiece. Carson Smith had two while Lexi Hall pitched in one point. The Lady Rebels drained 16-22 foul shots and banged home 11 three pointers.

Heather Sipes recorded a double-double for BIC with 15 points and 11 boards. Sipes also handed out five assists and had four steals. Brianna Lambert added nine points, Molly Hart scored six, Vicky Esparza netted five, Jealyn Cates had four, Haddyn Hurst tallied three while Morgan James and Holly Stockton finished with two points apiece. BIC sank 7-12 free throws and made five three pointers.

The two teams were tied at 17-all after the first quarter before the Lady Rebels broke away to take a 43-29 halftime lead. Riverside stretched its margin to 71-42 after three quarters.

In the junior high contest, Riverside corralled the Lady Mustangs 63-29. Beaner Hoffman paced the Lady Rebels with 21 points while Cailey Qualls pumped in 17 more. Alexis Courtney tallied nine, Payton Douglas chipped in six, Anna Meurer had five while Hannah Gosa and Julie Hutchison added two points apiece. Alexis Boatman scored one point.

Laci Dewitt topped BIC with nine points, Kaydence Lambert scored six, Emma Graddy and Haley Milligan tallied four points apiece while Krystyn Hawkins, Lexi Riley and Chareigan Davis all added two points each.

BIC participated in the Fight Like a Girl Classic Friday night at Marmaduke. The Lady Mustangs fell to 0-3 on the season, dropping a heartbreaking 63-59 overtime decision to Highland.

The Lady Mustangs trailed 46-41 entering the fourth quarter, but rallied to tie the game 55-55 at the end of regulation. The Lady Rebels outscored BIC 8-4 in the overtime period to secure the win.

Abby Dietsche and Katelynn Miller led Highland with 16 points apiece. Haddyn Hurst paced BIC with 16 while Sipes and Hart added 14 and 12 points respectively.

Riverside improved to 5-0 on the season, knocking off 5A Valley View 65-44 Saturday at Marmaduke. Robertson torched the nets for 23 points to lead the Lady Rebels while Sain added 10 more. Reagan Dodd and Macy Moody led the Lady Blazers with 20 and 12 points respectively.

The Lady Rebels will play host to Bay Monday night at Lake City before entertaining East Poinsett County Thursday night.

BIC travels to Manila Monday night to take on the Lady Lions in their only game of the week.
