Lady Rebels roll past BIC 85-39

Riverside jumped on Buffalo Island Central early and went on to trounce the Lady Mustangs 85-39 Thursday night in senior girls basketball action at Lake City.

The unbeaten Lady Rebels raced to a 26-10 first quarter lead and held a 51-18 halftime advantage. Riverside stretched their margin to 76-30 after three periods of play and coasted to their fourth win of the season.

The Lady Rebels put 11 players in the scoring column and drained 11 three pointers on the night. Haven Robertson topped Riverside with 18 points while Bailey Fisher and Lotti Hoffman also hit double digits, scoring 17 and 11 points respectively. Whitney Wagganor and Briley Douglas both netted eight points apiece. Grace Ann Puckett tallied six while Brittney Sain had five. Mallory Felton and Hailey Carr chipped in four points each. Carmen Campbell tallied three while Carson Smith pitched in two points. Riverside was near perfect from the foul line, sinking 19-20 attempts.

Heather Sipes paced the Lady Mustangs with 17 points. Brianna Lambert scored eight, Morgan James and Haddyn Hurst contributed three points apiece while Jealynn Cates, Molly Hart and Vicky Esparza all added two points each. BIC hit 6-8 foul shots and knocked down five three pointers.

Riverside began the week thumping Marmaduke by an identical 85-39 score. Robertson topped the Lady Rebels with 20 points while Fisher canned five three pointers and finished with 19 points. Felton poured in 14 while Brittney Sain also hit double figures, scoring 11. Puckett netted eight, Hoffman tallied six, Douglas and Ashlyn Wright pitched in three points each while Lexi Hall tallied one point. The Lady Rebels scorched the nets from beyond the three-point line, drilling 15 treys on the evening. Riverside also connected on 11-14 foul shots.

Maggie Mays led Marmaduke with nine points while Anna Meredith added eight. The Lady Greyhounds canned four three pointers and made 8-18 charity tosses.

Riverside led 20-8 after the first quarter, 50-21 at the half and 72-32 after three quarters.

In junior high action, the Lady Rebels rolled over BIC 51-16. Anna Meurer banged home five three pointers and finished with a game high 17 points to lead the Lady Rebels. Beaner Hoffman pumped in 13 while Payton Douglas added 12. Cailey Qualls tallied three while Savannah Lee, Lexi Moyer and Hannah Gosa all chipped in two points apiece.

Lexi Riley led BIC with six points while Laci Dewitt and Haley Milligan netted three points each. Emma Graddy and Kaydence Lambert pitched in two points apiece.

The Junior Lady Rebels dropped their first game of the season Monday night at the hands of Marmaduke, 34-26. Tori Sutherland led the Lady Greyhounds with 13 points.

Qualls paced Riverside with 11. Hoffman had eight, Alexis Courtney scored four while Meurer added three points.

The Lady Rebels and BIC will lock horns again Monday night, this time at the Mustang Athletic Complex. Riverside will travel to Greene County Tech on Thursday while BIC will play in the Marmaduke Classic beginning on Friday.
