Rebels nip Tigers 61-59
Riverside slipped past Ridgefield Christian 61-59 in senior boys basketball action Tuesday night in Jonesboro.
Ethan Cash led three Rebels in double figures, scoring a team high 21 points. Landon Moyer pitched in 17 while Demo Bowers added 16 more.
John Scholtens led the Warriors with a game high 26 points. Alex Burnett and Ean Dunton chipped in 12 and 11 points respectively.
Riverside took a three point lead into the dressing room at the half before increasing their margin to 44-36 after three quarters. The Rebels led by as many as 11 points in the final frame, before watching the Warriors put together a furious rally to close to within two points late in the game. Ridgefield Christian missed a shot at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime.
In junior high action, Riverside rolled to a 58-42 victory. Ethan Boatman pumped in 19 points while J.M. Shinall added 15.
Riverside traveled to Armorel Friday night and fell to the Tigers, 56-41. Armorel (3-1) placed four players in double figures, led by Monroe Carr and Weston Hollinsead, who scored 15 points apiece. Deon Sellars and Matt Wyatt added 12 points each for the Tigers.
Riverside (2-2) was paced by Cash’s 16 points while Bowers contributed 15.
Riverside returns to action Tuesday night when they take on archrival Buffalo Island Central at Monette. The Rebels close the week hosting Ridgefield Christian Friday night at Lake City, when Riverside will celebrate Homecoming.
