The weather did not cooperate for the 2017 Caraway Fall Festival but the small crowd facing the colder temperatures enjoyed games, booths, food and entertainment on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Mayor Barry Riley presented a proclamation declaring the day Roger Williams Day in Caraway. Williams serves on the city council and is a well known throughout Caraway as a volunteer who works above and beyond.

Mayor Riley recognized Williams for his countless hours spent on community events throughout the year.

A framed proclamation was presented to Williams with Mayor Riley's words of appreciation.

Entertainment throughout the day included Shirley Long singing country and gospel favorites, Green River Band and The Silver Rock Band.

A tribute by Long was presented at the conclusion of her concert as she recognized the veterans, police officers, firemen, and emergency workers presenting a special song in their honor, “God Bless The USA.”

“We appreciate everyone who came out in spite of the colder weather for the Fall Festival,” Mayor Riley said. “Due to the inclement weather the carnival did not set up as scheduled on Friday night and Saturday. We did have several booths, games and food vendors.”
