Riverside boys and girls bring home Marmaduke Invitational Tournament titles
Riverside boys and girls both brought home championship trophies, winning the Marmaduke Invitational Junior High Basketball Tournaments Friday night.
The Riverside boys, 4-0 on the season, slipped past the host Greyhounds 56-51 in overtime. Ethan Boatman pumped in a game high 19 points to lead the Rebels. Boatman was joined in double figures by teammates Grayson Emery and J.M. Shinall, who chipped in 13 and 11 points respectively.
Blaine Banning topped Marmaduke with 18 points, Garrett Hensley added 12 while Bradley Horton pitched in 11.
The Lady Rebels upped their season mark to a perfect 5-0 with a 45-39 win over the Lady Greyhounds. Cailey Qualls dropped in eight consecutive free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for Riverside. Anna Meurer drilled five three pointers and finished with a game high 19 points for Riverside. Qualls chipped in 15 while Beaner Hoffman contributed 11.
Deavinie Michael paced Marmaduke with 13 points.
Riverside blasted Armorel 52-16 in earlier tournament action. Hoffman led the Lady Rebels with 16 points.
