Manila Cross Country competes in Hot Springs, Quitman and Bald Knob
Manila Cross Country Team has had a productive three weeks competing in Hot Springs, Quitman and Bald Knob.
All of the ninth grade runners were moved up to senior high in prparation for the state championship.
The team attended the Lake Hamilton Meet in Hot Springs on Oct. 14. The meet is a big event in the state with over 1,000 runners in attendance. Jake Baltimore took overall first place in the junior boys race. Sadie McDonald took overall third place in the junior girls division.
In the senior division, Manila ran in the elite senior division with Connor Jackson earning a medal by finishing 19th.
The team attended the meet at Quitman on Oct. 17. In the junior boys race, Jake Baltimore finished first in the 1A-3A division. Medalist honors in the junior girls race went to Sadie McDonald (fourth in 1A-3A division) and Madison Hitchcock (7th in 1A-3A division).
The senior boys took runner-up at the event with Connor Jackson placing third in the 1A-3A division.
The next event for the team was held at Bald Knob on Oct. 24.
In junior boys action, Jake Baltimore finished overall first place for his second overall victory in the last three weeks. Landon King (12th) and Drew Dogan (14th) also medaled in this event.
In junior girls action, Manila had two runners in the top 10 with Sadie McDonald finishing in second place and Madison Hitchcock finishing eighth.
Manila senior boys also had two runners in the top 10 with Connor Jackson finishing second and Austin Harmon finishing ninth.
The junior high season ended with Bald Knob. Manila senior high teams will be competing in the state championship meet in Hot Springs on Nov. 3.
