Monette -- Larry O’Neal Drummond, 73, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2017. He was born June 30, 1944, in Camp Gordon, Ga., to the late Herman and Iris Jewell Drummond. He grew up in North Augusta, S.C., and graduated high school there. Larry served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and as member of the Monette American Legion Post 136 where he was the post commander for several years. He was an active member of the Monette First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and was the church treasurer for 10 years. He also volunteered at the Buffalo Island Museum. He was a production supervisor and retired from Parker Hannifin. Larry loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathy McCord Drummond, and his brother, Richard “Andy” Drummond.

He is survived by a son and his wife, Bryan and Ann Marie Drummond of Jonesboro; two granddaughters, Sophia and Natalie Drummond of Jonesboro; a sister, Marcia Grego of Johns Island, S.C.; and many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Bird officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery with military honors.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are his nephews, Terry Anderson Jr., Randy Anderson, Bob Hurst Jr., Mark Hurst, James Paul McCord, Clint McCord, Steve Whitmire and Keith Rubottom. Honorary pallbearers are his Sunday school class and members of the Monette American Legion Post.
