Seminoles shut out Lions 34-0

Osceola scored four second quarter touchdowns in route to a 34-0 shutout over Manila in 3A-3 conference football action Friday night at Seminole Field. The victory left Osceola in sole possession of first place in the conference.

The two teams battled to a scoreless first quarter before Osceola got on the board with 8:44 remaining in the first half on a Derrell Brown two-yard touchdown plunge. The point after put the ‘Noles on top 7-0.

The Seminole defense picked up a score when Jariq Scales picked off a Lion pass and returned it one yard for a touchdown at the 5:51 mark. The point after upped the Osceola lead to 14-0.

Brown scored his second touchdown of the night on a 17-yard touchdown run at the 1:58 mark to up Osceola’s lead to 21-0.

Osceola took advantage of a second consecutive Lion turnover, putting another touchdown on the board when D.J. Flie hooked up with Brown on a 46-yard touchdown pass, giving the Seminoles a 27-0 halftime advantage.

Carl Miner capped off Osceola’s scoring with a 16-yard touchdown scamper with 4:55 left in the game.

Osceola finished with 366 yards of total offense. Brown led the Seminoles in rushing with six carries for 91 yards while Taylen Gavin added 74 yards on nine rushes. Flie finished with 102 yards passing.

The Lions totaled 132 yards total offense. Lane Sims led Manila with 69 yards on 17 rushes.

Manila returns to conference play with a road trip Friday night to Rivercrest.
