Manila kicks off their 2017 football campaign with a road trip Friday night to Westside. The Lions have defeated the Warriors the last two years. Manila prepped for its clash with Westside, defeating Harrisburg in a scrimmage game 44-34 Thursday night.

Manila enters the season in search of their third straight Class 3A state playoff berth. The Lions feature a potent offense, led by junior quarterback Layne Sims, along with an experienced, senior-laden, offensive line. The Lions also boast a strong running game, led by senior Logan Hamilton. Brett Carter returns at the h-back spot.

Manila has to replace seven starters on defense, but return 300-pound senior nose guard Carlos Flores. Junior David Keys is another returning starter for the Lions.
