Mustangs claim five team match at Sage
Buffalo Island Central won a five-team golf match Thursday at the Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro. Miles Gifford and Andy Milligan both fired nine-hole 40ís to lead the Mustangs, who finished with a 166 team total in the play-five, count-four format. Andrew McFarlin and Canon Walling both finished with 43ís.
Manila came in third with a 177 team total, 11 shots behind the Mustangs and six strokes shy of second place Nettleton. The Lions were led by Joel Burrow, who carded a 42. Brock Birmingham completed his round with a score of 43. Cade Cater shot a 44 while Neal Benson came in with a 48.
The Mustangs participated in the Ultimate Auto Group Tournament Monday and Tuesday at the Big Creek Golf and Country Club in Mountain Home. BIC finished sixth in the 10-team tournament behind winner North Little Rock, who won the event with a 587 total, nine shots better than second place Jonesboro. BIC completed the two-day tournament with a team score of 667. The Mustangs were the smallest classification school in the event.
Gifford led BIC with a two-day score of 155, including a 76 on Tuesday. McFarlin carded a 163, Milligan had a 172 while Walling finished at 179. Noah Teeter came in with an even 200.
