The home of Billy and Tracy Gathright was chosen as Monette Yard of the Month for June. A special recognition ceremony was held July 7.

City Beautification Committee member Barbara Suber presented the Gathrights with a commemorative certificate, which read, “The home of Billy and Tracy Gathright has been recognized as having the most beautifully landscaped and manicured yard in the entire Monette Community for the month of June 2017.” Member Shawn Nance presented Mrs. Gathright with a hanging basket of philodendrons.

A yellow and brown “Yard of the Month” sign was placed in the Gathright front yard to acknowledge the beautification award.

The Gathright’ built their spacious home on 2009 Northview Drive in 2003. The beige brick home sits on an acre lot, and has an open floor plan with four bedrooms, five baths, and an upstairs game room. Several additions have been added through the years, to include a large double shop with entertaining area for large gatherings.

The beautifully landscaped yard is maintained by Howard Luff, with mowing by the three Gathright sons, Gavin, Rush and Kell, and assistance by their father Billy and grandfather Larry Cothren. A sprinkler system has been added as well as LED landscape lights.

Trees, shrubs and plants include crepe myrtles, hosta, Knockout roses, Japanese maple, Sky Pencil holly, Encore azaleas, flowering loropetalum, lilies, lemongrass and lilacs.

Mr. Gathright is co-owner of RGL Construction, RGL Holdings and GRK Rental Properties in Monette. Mrs. Gathright is postmaster of Caruthersville, Steele, Braggadocio, Cooter, Deering and Holland offices in Missouri.

The Gathright sons are all students at Buffalo Island Central. Gavin, 16, is in the 11th grade; Rush, 14, ninth grade; and Kell, 9, is in the fourth grade.

The family are very active in sports and as members of the Monette First Baptist Church.
