Franklin Tommy Orvil Schoolfield

Caraway -- Franklin Tommy Orvil Schoolfield, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born June 25, 1933, in Manila to the late Frank and Jessie Elizabeth Hood Schoolfield. He was a member of the Caraway Church of Christ for over 60 years. He was a farmer and factory worker. Tommy enjoyed collecting antique hand tools, watching grandchildren play basketball, flea markets and was an avid Riverside School basketball fan. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Darr Schoolfield; a daughter, Susie Schoolfield Meurer; a son, Doug Schoolfield; grandchildren, Sonia Robertson, JD Schoolfield and David Schoolfield; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, James Schoolfield, Dail Schoolfield, Johnny Schoolfield and Mike Schoolfield.

He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Margie Mangrum, Dallie Billingsley, Shirley Dunkerson and Marveen Schoolfield; three brothers, Bob Schoolfield, Richard Schoolfield and Murl Schoolfield.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with John Shadowens and Ronny Benson officiating. Interment will follow at Caraway Cemetery.

The family received friends from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were John Schoolfield, Jayden Schoolfield, David Schoolfield, Chris Kelems, JD Schoolfield and Blake Robertson.
