Alma Faye Gilpatrick Dulaney

Alma Faye Gilpatrick Dulaney, 87, of Monette, passed from this life Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born and raised in Leachville, and was the daughter of the late John Luther and Martha Ellen Smith Nance.

When Alma and her twin sister, Zelma, were very young their brother, Herndon, would hide their dolls and make the girls listen to him preach. After his sermons he would return the dolls to the twins. Herndon went on to become a Pentecostal minister. Alma attended many Pentecostal churches as a child and was a member of the Leachville Church of God. She spent much of her life in the Leachville area and married Jack Gilpatrick, the father of her children, in 1947. She lived in Michigan, and later Jonesboro, before returning to Leachville in 1981. She loved cooking for her family, shopping with her children, playing piano, and embroidering. Alma had been a resident at Monette Manor for the past four years.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Murrell Nance, Collier Nance, Herndon Nance, Vassar Nance, and two sisters, Vama Hayden and Thelma Wyatt.

Survivors include one son, Rodney Gilpatrick of Millington, Tenn.; three daughters, Barbara Arnold (J.C.) of Dell, Martha "Sissy" Gilpatrick of Jonesboro and Jackie Brewer (Gary) of Fairfield, Ohio. She also leaves her twin sister, Zelma Mae Ashabranner, of Lake City; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, with one great-great grandchild on the way.
