Mayor Ralph D. Wells

Ralph D. Wells, 80, of Leachville, passed from this life Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Born in Leachville, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Sarah Loretta McClure Wells and was a 1956 graduate of Leachville High School. Following high school he served in the U. S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division, stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Ralph lived several years in Blytheville, where he was employed by the Randall Company, before returning to Leachville in 1975. Along with his late wife, Carol June Wilcox Wells, he owned and operated Tri-Star Chemical Company for many years in Leachville. He was a Leachville City Alderman before serving a total of 7 terms as Mayor. Ralph was the Past Master of the Leachville Masonic Lodge #689 and was a current member of the Monette Masonic Lodge #558. He was a member of the Leachville First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Barry Wells of Leachville and Brice Wells (Melinda) of Monette; a daughter, Dena Field (John) of Leachville; four grandchildren; Alex Field, Ashley Field, Hallee Wells, and Haddie Wells.

Ralph also leaves a very special friend, Moba Lee Miller of Leachville.

Funeral service was held at 2 p. m. Sunday, May 28, 2017, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Jerry Wilcox officiating. Burial followed in Leachville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronnie Hitt, Curtis Hitt, Bob Wells, Barry Kirby, Rodney Robertson, and Robert Ballard. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Crites and employees of the Leachville City Shop.
