Copeland yard receives honor
The home of Josh and Jordan Copeland, at 303 East Drew, was chosen as Monette “Yard of the Month” for April.
On Monday, May 1, Monette Mayor Chub Qualls presented Joshua Copeland with a certificate recognizing his home as having the most beautifully landscaped and manicured yard in the entire Monette Community for the month of April 2017.
A large yellow and brown “Yard of the Month” sign was placed in the Copeland front yard to acknowledge the City Beautification award. The committee also presented the Copelands with a beautiful Wandering Jew hanging basket plant.
The Copeland home was formerly owned by Josh’s grandparents, Neg and Oma Copeland, and sits on a 150x100' lot on Monette’s main thoroughfare.
The Copelands are a busy couple, with children Gabrielle Greene, 10, and Aubree Copeland, 3. Joshua works for Brandon Snider Farms and Jordan works for Bigg Butts BBQ, both in Leachville. They have three children living away from home, which include Allie Copeland, Brayden Copeland and Layney Copeland.
Josh had help with the landscaping from his father Rickey Copeland and grandmother Oma Copeland.
“My Grandmother Oma planted the hostas in our yard, which were a gift from her neighbor Elmarie Lawhorn,” Mr. Copeland said.
Other varieties of plants, bushes, shrubs and trees in the Copeland yard include Knockout roses, crepe myrtles, azaleas, nandinas, Stella De Oros, tiger lilies, red maple, and Rose of Sharon.
City officials in attendance included Mayor Chub Qualls, Councilman Bob Blankenship, along with City Beautification members, Doris Blankenship, Terri Higginbotham, Barbara Suber, Steve Suber and Nan Snider.
