Jessie F. Isebell, 81, of Manila, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Born Aug. 17, 1935, in Okolona, Miss., he was the son of the late Joseph and Willie Phillips Isebell and was raised in Mississippi County, Ark. Jessie served three years in the United States Marine Corps and later served an additional eight years in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, Jessie worked 15 years for the Civil Service in Sacramento, Calif. He retired in 1979 and shortly thereafter returned to Manila.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Isebell; a daughter, Barbara Isebell; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley Palmer Isebell of the home; two daughters, Jeannie Sanders of Leachville and Joni Isebell of Manila; two brothers, Joe Isebell of St. Joseph, Mo., and Danny Fleeman of Texas; two sisters, Elwanda Sharp of Etowah and Carol Henry of Blytheville. He also leaves five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Dr. Matt Pryor officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.
