Lady Rebels slam three homers in win at Bay
Riverside pounded Bay Monday but fell to Trumann and Rivercrest Tuesday and Thursday in high school softball action last week.
The Lady Rebels pounded out 14 hits, including three homeruns, in their 15-2 victory Monday at Bay. Carson Smith, Bailey Fisher and Grace Ann Puckett all clubbed long balls to lead the Riverside offense. Delaney George and Katie Towery both went 3-4. George scored three times and drove in a run while Towery had a double, two RBI and three runs scored. Smith was 2-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Puckett had a 2-3 day with three RBI and two runs scored while Fisher's homerun was a three-run shot. Hannah Shinall and Brianna Campbell both singled while Whitney Wagganer doubled and scored once. Towery worked five innings, giving up two runs on five hits. Towery fanned five and walked a pair.
Trumann scored six runs in the second inning and went on to roll over Riverside 12-1 Tuesday at Lake City. The Lady Rebels were limited to just two hits, both singles, by Fisher and Campbell. Towery absorbed the loss, pitching five innings, allowing 12 runs, five earned on nine hits.
Rivercrest slipped past Riverside 5-4 Thursday at Wilson. The Lady Rebels scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to erase a two-run deficit, grabbing a 4-3 lead, but the Lady Colts answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame to pull out the win. Riverside outhit the Lady Colts 9-7. Bailee Henard earned the win, scattering nine hits while giving up three earned runs. Henard fanned five and issued no walks. Towery suffered the loss, going six innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs. Towery struck out five and walked three. Puckett delivered an RBI double, a single and scored a run. Smith had a pair of hits and scored once while Wagganer singled twice and crossed the plate once. Fisher singled and scored a run while Campbell cracked an RBI single. George also singled.
Riverside will return to the field Monday with a road trip to Marked Tree. The Lady Rebels host Westside Tuesday before traveling to Brookland Thursday and Buffalo Island Central on Friday.
