Charles Marshall "Skip" Hall Jr., 73, of Lake City, passed from this life Monday, April 10, 2017, at Regional One Health in Memphis, Tenn. Born in Ware Shoals, S.C., he was the son of the late Charles Marshall and Katie Bell Gunnels Hall and attended Ware Shoals High School. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class and had received the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal as well as several certificates of appreciation. After his retirement, he worked for the former Buffalo Island Community Hospital in Manila and the former Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville. He enjoyed drag racing, stock car racing and fishing. While stationed at Ft. Kobbe in Panama he was especially proud of the fact that he and his family caught hundreds of peacock bass which are native to Panama in a two hour span, but only kept 144. He was also an amateur radio operator and a member of Bowman Baptist Church near Lake City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Hall, Leon Hall and Robert Hall.

Survivors include His wife of 51 years, Janice Russell Hall of the home; two sons, Charles Marshall Hall, III and wife Terri and Opie Russell Hall and wife Tammy, all of Lake City; two brothers, Ernest Hall of Columbus, S.C., and David Hall of Easley, S.C.; two grandsons, Cody Hall and fiance Lacey Lawson and Blake Hall; two granddaughters, Ashley Speaks and husband Aaron and Kelsie Hall and fiance Chase Clay. He also leaves one great-grandson, Liam Hall.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Mark Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, April 20, from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
